This is an original issue Tamiya Clodbuster 4x4x4 monster truck. It has the desired bow tie grille, Chevrolet on the decal set, and Chevrolet tailgate. While it is not a pristine shelf queen, it is a very clean and unmolested example. It has seen very little use, and as such has very little wear and tear. You can see in the pictures that I left it in dusty as-found condition so you can see exactly what youre getting. I did not want to try and make it pretty for the pictures. The body is a clean, original issue hard plastic body. It was painted metallic light purple by the original owner. It was done well for an amateur attempt and appears to be a single coat of paint that should be easy to strip if you chose to repaint in the original red to match the box art. The body includes the original bow tie chrome grille. The chrome is good, but not perfect. The roll bar is missing some of the off-road lights. The tailgate has the Chevrolet logo. The decals were installed and are in presentable condition. They do have Chevrolet logo on the rear of the bedsides. There are some minor scratches and scuffs on the body. There are also a few assembly screws that were over tightened and have made dimples on the outside of the body. They are not bad, but worth noting. The chassis tub is is complete and undamaged. There are a few scuff marks from use, but would clean up nicely. The suspension is all there and works as it should. I believe it is missing 1 steering ball joint and is wired together. This should be an easy part to source. It is missing one body mount post, but I have the missing piece and it will be included. The chassis tub is also missing both front and rear red plastic bumpers. The tires are in great shape and show no signs of dry rot. The rims are in great shape and should sparkle like new once cleaned up. This Clodbuster still sports both original Mabuchi RS540 motors and the original mechanical speed controller. Someone spliced in a plug for a second battery. This sale also includes a vintage Airtronics XL 2P pistol grip controller and matching receiver. I bought this from the original owner over 10 years ago. I can only assume it was the controller that was installed when the Clodbuster was new. I did take the Clodbuster on a test drive when I bought it, but it has been boxed up in storage until these pictures were taken. I do not have any battery packs or chargers anymore to test it. This was my dream RC truck when I was a teen. All kidding aside, I had plans to restore this to shelf queen condition. I will include the following pieces that Ive picked up over the years. 1 New chrome front and rear bumpers, in original Tamiya packaging. 2 New chrome grille, roll bar, hood scoop, and off-road lights. This is from a later issue, so the grille has 4x4x4 instead of the bow tie. I was mostly interested in the roll bar and lights. It is also new in Tamiya packaging. 3 New plastic sprues that include the missing front and rear bumpers. These too are from a later issue and are molded in yellow instead of the original red. I figured red painted bumpers would suffice until molded red bumpers were sourced. These are also new Tamiy parts but are not in the original packaging. 4 Sprue of random bits and pieces in black plastic. This sprue is missing parts, but does includes the missing body mount post. 5 New old stock decal sheet. I was super excited to find this years ago, but it wasnt until recently that I noticed its probably a second issue as it doesnt have Chevrolet on the bedside decal. Would be something only a hardcore collector would notice. When is the last time youve seen NOS decal sheets? It is in its sealed Tamiya packaging. This would make a great candidate for an easy restoration, or would be a good looking survivor. Please ask any questions you may have.
