Folks, I’m going to give this a shot. I completely understand that this sale will require some folks to see this collection in person, and I can be available to do that. Please see the photos below for a bit of historical significance of Phillipson Ford and additional photos of the items available. What is available today is truly a piece of American automotive history. The story on how these items remained in the same building for nearly a century is pretty incredible, but here it goes. Phillipson Ford and Phillipson Garage opened up in an old Vaudeville-era theater in Argyle, WI and had an incredibly successful run from the late 20’s, until the owners abruptly retired in 2001. When the dealership closed, the first floor was rented to a local Napa Auto Parts store, but the service tools on the first floor, dealer business items, and any memorabilia, were just moved upstairs with all of the NOS parts left on hand. The upstairs became a vault for the next 20 years. 1 week, no exceptions. Nothing was inventoried, or reflected upon, there was no time for that. With assistance limited on such short notice, the task at hand was to get items stacked on pallets, shrink-wrapped, and put in the rented truck as quickly as possible. To my shop the items went, with plans to sort through, break down, and sell a pallet at a time. We worked for 4 days straight, 14 hours per day, to get these items on pallets and to my shop. There are literally thousands and thousands of parts on these pallets, ranging from the 1920s to around 2000. There are stacks of vintage glass, advertisements, sales books from the’40s, and parts, parts everywhere. Even the cash register and accounting books safe are included. THe collection will give you goosebumps… I get it, there is a portion of items that won’t sell and will need to be discarded. BUT, there’s far more good stuff in here. There are 25 pallets, plus all of the tools, vintage welder, diagnostics machine, brake rotor lathe, drill press, etc to the right of the pallets. Even many of the Vaudeville theater seats were taken, and are included in the sale if desired. There were 5 of us stacking pallets for 4 days. We goofed around and looked up a few items while we ate lunch, and laughed about retiring on the parts, but that’s as far as it went. Either you’re interested in 25+ pallets of 80 years of dealership memorabilia and parts, plus tools, or you’re not. There’s a bit of rolling the dice here, I understand. I think everything should fit in one 53′ semi-trailer. I have access to a pallet jack to help load pallets, but do not have access to a fork truck. I loaded everything with a lift gate on a trailer.
