Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Modified Sebring Sports Race Car Hot Rod Parts Vtg

Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite Modified Sebring Race Sport Car Located In Lake County Calif. Condition is for parts or not working. Has been sitting for 20+ years. Modified or former race car, needs full restoration. No engine and trans. 9 narrowed GM rear end with 5-lug wheels. Boxed tube custom frame. Appears to have been modified many years ago to accommodate a larger performance engine, possibly make into a dragster. Front end is modified and cross member cut, apparently to accommodate larger engine. A wing/spoiler was welded on top of the original rear body for appearance and/or high speed downforce. Taillights and front turn signal holes have been filled in. The Bugeye headlights were removed from the center of the hood, filled in, and welded onto the fenders similar to Sebring racing Sprites. Body has surface rust only. Floors are in good shape. The trunk area has some rust through in spots and will be easy to repair. It has the original Austin Healey steering wheel, along with the master cylinder and Lucas electrical box. Additional spare parts include miscellaneous nuts and bolts, hardware, windshield frame with cracked glass inside, stick shift cowl/cover, interior aluminum trim, top bow, and extra steering parts. Tires hold air and car rolls freely. I dont know the history of this car, if it was ever raced on a track or driven with a larger or modified engine. I have been watching it for over 20 years and recently had the opportunity to acquire it. It is a unique project from years gone by. Imagine what an eye-catcher this car will be once on the road or the track! Located in Lake County California. Up for grabs we have a schroeder steering gear box in used condition. 8-1 ratio, 24 1/2 overall width, 13 from end of splines to center, 11 1/2 from center to end of tube, the keyed steering shaft is 5 5/8 long. It turns with my fingers pretty well, almost feels notchy like its dirty inside or needs fresh grease. Possibly a bearing needs replaced. Cool old piece for your project.
