This is a vintage, large Big Boss Car Carrier No. 5250 made by Louis Marx & Company with its original vehicles, parts, tools, original box and original instructions (not pictured). The 42 inch long transporter has a battery-powered drive that powers forward and reverse movement, as well as the loading and unloading of the trailer. The motor drive works fine, powering forward and reverse for the trailer loader and also forward and reverse for the rear tractor wheels. The transporter comes with its four original vehicles which each have special features. Green sedan: horn that sounds when the rear chassis moves up and down. Yellow sports car: opening trunk and removable hard top. Blue sedan: removable front fender that is interchangeable with a “smashed” fender. In addition, selected wheels on the cars can be removed and replaced with a flat tire. The set comes with miniature screwdriver, wrench, jack, extra car steering wheel (there are 4 others) and an optional manual lever to move the trailer car loader. There is also a switch on the tractor to enable a “truck engine” sound when the motor is turned out (it is quite loud, as can be seen toward the end of the video). The rear lower ramp folds up and down and the upper deck ramp can be extended and retracted using a fixed lever near the tractor’s back end. The front wheels on the tractor can be turned as can be the steering wheel. Both side mirrors are in place and not damaged, as is frequently the case with these Boss cabs. The truck is in great condition and was clearly not used very much with most decals intact. There is some general wear due to age, use and storage, including a crack on the center-top of the tractor cab. The holes on the plastic conveyor belt do not always perfectly catch during reverse operation and sometimes jump (in the video, this can be seen when the blue car is being pushed near the back of the trailer). The illustration on the box shows a small plastic hammer which is either missing or was not included. Overall, this is a great example of a very detailed, comprehensive Big Boss toy truck that probably made a lot of kids very excited when unwrapped on birthdays or holidays!
